How to efficiently detail the interior of your vehicle

By:Jonathan Monson

People are always astounded at what we are able to accomplish at Dirty2Dreamy Detail Services. The results of our work speak for themselves, but the most common reason for that wow factor is how fast we are able to accomplish what we do. When it comes to business, time is money. It is for this reason we developed standard operating procedures and efficiency practices in our business. I am going to share some of those secrets with you today!

When it comes to detailing the interior of the vehicle it is important to properly assess and prepare the vehicle. You don’t want to be in the middle of vacuuming and have to stop to get Jonny’s toys you found underneath the seat. So the first step is to look through the entire vehicle and remove any items or debris that will get in your way and slow you down. You would be amazed at how much time you’ll waste going back and forth to the trash or table to remove items from the vehicle.

Once the vehicle is free of debris and personal items you want to make a plan. You assess how soiled the vehicle is and decide on the method needed to clean it properly. If heavy soil is present you will want to use a solid cleaner first and then follow with your protectant. If the vehicle is lightly soiled then you should be able to use an all in one and save yourself lots of time. During this step we are usually blowing the vehicle out with air. Air is a HUGE advantage when it comes to detailing your vehicle. Blow everything out from the front of the vehicle towards the back. Blow only one direction and assess the entire vehicle while you do it.

Now that you have made your assessment and blown out all your cracks and crevices you can proceed with your detail. Work through the vehicle in quadrants. We always start with the driver front. Break down each area into small sections. For instance, we wouldn’t detail an entire door panel at once. We break it down into four sections and then a final overall wipe with protectant. This increases the level of detail as well as efficiency because you’re not having to go back over missed things.

At this point you’ve gone over the entire vehicle. You started on the drivers side and have ended on the passenger. Now you go through for your final vacuum in the reverse direction. As you’re vacuuming you are inspecting all your other work for missed spots. This is efficient because we are working as we inspect. It also puts your head at a totally different angle and you will notice you may have missed some of the lower areas or areas under things.

Your final step is to complete the windows and door jambs all around. Windows are one of the biggest pains in the butt so here is a video to help you with leaving your windows streak free. Click Here As you complete the windows you are doing one more double check of the work. This gives you the upward angle to see if anything is uneven or missed. Don’t forget the best part of the last step. Admire all that hard work !
