What ceramic coatings do professionals use?

What-ceramic-coatings-do-professionals-use?

The question of “what ceramic coatings do professionals use” is a question that has really morphed over time. The coatings that “professionals” use were guarded pretty heavily in the beginning. We have noticed quite a change in our industry when it comes to “professional grade” coatings. While this is still the case for many coatings out there, it also has become a point of greed for some coating companies as well. Keep reading for some real truth.

There is profit in training detailers how to install ceramic coatings and it isn’t in the training cost to us as detailers. It is in the product purchasing that continues for years after that certification. This is not to say that those who offer training are automatically out of the “professional” recommendation at all. This is just to give you critical thinking data to make the decision making process factual. There are some great training companies out there, but there are also some companies that train simply to sell products.

The definition of “professional” is a person engaged in a specified activity, especially a sport or branch of the performing arts, as a main paid occupation rather than as a pastime. That does not help us at all. Those looking for “professional products” can easily be discouraged by how many “professional products” are available on the market. As soon as that product is in a DIYer’s hand that’s not being paid to do the service, it is no longer professional. That’s not intended as an insult. It’s just the definition of the word.

Now, understanding how the sale of ceramic coatings goes “professionally”. You understand that it is the installer that you really want to vet. A good detailer or detail business will stand behind the product that they use. They will regularly test that product and sometimes even move on to another product because formulas got changed and the product has become underwhelming. We have seen this throughout the last 4 years as raw materials shortages happened.

Ask your installer questions. Learn and understand their process of installation. Research how many installs they have done and how long they have been in business. Learn why they chose the coating that they offer. Ask them about THEIR guarantee, because that’s the guarantee that really matters. The odds a licensed, insured installer, with thousands of installs and decades of experience is going to install a product that doesn’t do as they say it will…are slim.

Lastly, remember that gut feeling is important! We pride ourselves at Dirty2Dreamy when it comes to really connecting with our clients and caring about the entire experience. We never want anyone moving forward if the trust bond is not built! Look for that in your installer.
